Arbutus West Animal Clinic is the only facility in the Lower Mainland that can perform Laparoscopic Surgery for your pets, and we also accept referrals from other veterinary hospitals. The following Minimally Invasive Surgeries can be performed with virtually no pain, and minimal patient recovery time:

  • Cryptorchid neuter
  • Liver biopsy
  • Intestinal biopsy
  • Intestinal foreign body removal
  • Gastropexy for large breed dogs
  • Pancreas/spleen/kidney biopsies
  • Gall bladder culture
  • Tumor biopsy and excision





Managing Discomfort

Though we always do our best to minimize any discomfort with pain-killers and good surgical technique, some discomfort is to be expected after any surgical procedure.

At Arbutus West our veterinarians are required to adhere to strict standards of atraumatic surgical technique. Most surgeries are done by Dr. Burstyn himself or under his direct supervision.


Road to Recovery

We will give you thorough instructions on how to care for your pet during their at-home recovery, and we will follow up with regular phone calls and a follow-up examination with the veterinarian.
